Recommended Landscaping Plants:

Pennisetum 'Hamelin' and Sedum 'Autumn Joy' are drought tolerant perennials that make excellent companion plantings. Both provide interest that extends into the winter season with interesting contrasting
textures.
Betula nigra 'Heritage' is the only birch tree that is truly adapted to our hot Washington summers. It is a species of River Birch that is heat tolerant and borer resistant. The exfoliating bark of 'Heritage' provides year-round interest.
Acer palmatum var. dissectum is commonly known as the Dissectum Japanese Maple. It is a low-growing specimen-oriented maple with great structure. Suitable for light shade, it provides a lovely focal point in the garden.
Lagerstroemia indica is the botanical name for Crape Myrtle. The National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. has produced some outstanding cultivars, including 'Natchez', a white flowering variety with beautiful cinnamon-colored exfoliating bark. Grown in tree form, this plant will provide four seasons of interest.
Picea pungens var. glauca is frequently seen in the landscape. There are several varieties of Blue Spruce, including 'Hoopsii' which is the most true blue form.
